Brooke
Estée Lauder once said, “I never dreamed about success, I worked for it.” Brooke beautifully embodies this quote through her inspirational dedication and hard work. At just 18 years old, she works two jobs, owns her own licensed esthetician business, and is currently working towards a college degree in Nursing. When she isn’t working at the spa and a lash place, she is the proud owner of Brooke’s Beauty Bar and offers various kinds of aesthetic services, including work on eyebrows, consultations, and deep-cleansing facials.
She grew up in South Brunswick, where she did competitive cheerleading in fifth grade and then started modeling throughout her teenage years. She worked hard to graduate high school early at the age of 17, and then decided she wanted to go into aesthetics using an extra year to earn her esthetician license.
During quarantine, she used her free time to explore the inner workings of skincare. Her curiosity expanded to body treatments, and then eventually dermatology and lash work. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Brooke was able to truly dig in and find her passion for aesthetics.
Brooke modeled for many skin care brands over the years, and is grateful to have had the opportunity to see the inner workings of presenting these products. She disagreed with the superficial presentation of certain products that may not be as beneficial for customers, and from then on has worked towards maintaining authenticity of her services. From recommending only the best skin care products to her Instagram followers, to trying certain treatments on herself first, Brooke is determined to sincerely show her clients what natural beauty really means. She loves being able to restore a small part of their self-confidence by not hiding, but instead accentuating, their natural features.
Brooke’s journey towards creating her business is fueled by her burning passion to provide better services for her clients and her go-getter personality. After earning her esthetician license, she decided she not only wanted to learn more about her field but beyond what a license could provide her. She wanted to create something that would be her own. It wasn’t easy finding the space and resources to establish her business, but once her first clients started trickling in, she worked hard to provide them with the best experience.
She loves how her work allows her to meet new people every day, and truly enjoys hearing the unique stories her clients tell her. She is grateful for the opportunity to hear so many different perspectives, and the ability to make significant connections with people she might not have met otherwise.
Brooke has overcome many challenges in order to get where she is today, including managing her time wisely and not worrying about what others might think about her services. By not letting fear stop her from taking risks, she was successfully able to boldly advertise her business and establish her services on the map. As a young CEO, she sometimes felt as though she would have to work extra hard to prove herself to people that might think she is much too young. But by staying consistent and dedicated, she is proud to say that she proved that she can do just as good of a job even if she is young. Even not working in a male-dominated field, Brooke sometimes felt patronized by men who believed her work was not as difficult or financially responsible as theirs. By tuning out the negative voices, Brooke believes that she is able to lead a life that is her own and strongly encourages other young girls to do the same.
Brooke believes that there is a multitude of possibilities in the aesthetics field, and believes that there is much more to learn for her. She expanded her services to microblading and microshading, and is currently taking courses to learn dermaplaning.
Brooke launched her business not only for herself, but to prove to the people that believed she wouldn’t be able to do it just how capable she was. Then eventually, what was a hobby for her became a passion. She was inspired by women who didn’t listen to what others had to say and created a name for themselves, one such woman being a client of hers. She is grateful for the support of her friends and loving family, and for her mother who showed her that she could achieve anything if she worked for it. Brooke hopes to continue growing her business, and be an inspiration to young girls aspiring to pursue their dreams.
